About

Hello and thanks for stopping by to visit my blog. My name is Aileen and I’ve lived my entire life in various parts of the Northeast USofA. I’ve currently been living in Massachusetts for the last eight years with my husband, Jeff, 7 year old daughter Cecilia and our loveable, but totally insane Corgi named Petey. I also have two older sons David, 22, and Jonathan, who’s 19, who live away at college during the school year. Given the age span of my children I can definitely say I’ve had many “interesting experiences”, shall we say, as a mom!

In my younger days, armed with an MBA and pure unadulterated ambition, my goal was to climb the corporate ladder.  But soon the realities of raising two young children set in and I traded in my briefcase for a stethoscope and went back to school to become a Registered Nurse. These days I work part-time in a local hospital as a bone marrow transplant nurse on an oncology floor. I adore my job and have met some super remarkable folks along the way.

My favorite animals are pigs, whales/dolphins, turkeys, monkeys, and owls. I’ve decided I’m happiest when tooling around outdoors. I love the mountains and beach. When outdoors I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and fishing. I like yoga and low impact aerobics. I adore going to spas, movies, restaurants, and amusement parks. My guilty pleasures are watching TV (my favorite shows are Revenge and Royal Pains) and shopping. I also love reading books, traveling, and entering contests. My favorite beverages are coffee, wine, single malt and herbal tea. I started to write a list of favorite foods, and then realized my favorite food is food. Basically I’ll eat anything that’s edible. Yep, love to eat.

Three things really motivated me to start this blog. First, my brain was turning to mush and I really needed to push myself to learn something new. As they say either use it or lose it and I was on the losing end of things! Second, I’m also a firm believer in stepping out of one’s comfort zone every once in a while to spice things up a bit. Third, of all I was inspired by all the amazing things moms were doing out there on the blogosphere. So hard not to feel like a slacker in comparison. There are moms out there creating art, writing, running small businesses, raising funds for charity, cooking, working in and outside of the home, blogging. The list is endless. Got to say we’re moms and truly so much more.
